The Basic Octagon was colored using Color Expansions and then subjected to an array of cellular automata iterations, using Color Expansions' Color Logic toolbox. A subset of the image was then selected and folded into an eight-way symmetric design. The tile was then tessellated within the Image Array, producing the final effect.
