Puzzle 749 - Figurals

This is the 70th Custom Puzzle Craft wooden jigsaw puzzle to be offered in my ongoing 100 Puzzles Project of almost-monthly auctions. This puzzle features a print from the Poker Playing Dogs series by the late K. Chin, an artist I frequently feature in the Project. The name "Poker Playing Dogs - Where'd It Go?" is my name, the print did not have a name. The "Where'd It Go" refers to the boxer dog looking at his empty wallet! This is the second "Poker Playing Dog" print in a series of four that I plan to auction within the project. The third will be offered in November [was - in November 2007], I'm currently attempting to locate a fourth one in good enough condition for the project [was - January 2008].

As it happened (from my Journal archives).

Thursday 5:23 pm - Puzzle #749, Poker Playing Dogs - Where'd It Go? Is completed. The puzzle looks good. I'll have a final piece count and official photo tomorrow. The picture I took today was taken in the sun, and as the puzzle is still at the shop I wasn't able to correct the colors. [Sept 15, 2007 edit: picture deleted here, newer picture added under Sept 15's entry]. The auction will start late tomorrow afternoon.

Wednesday 2:34 pm - Put in some time at the shop today, cutting another 120 pieces or so of Poker Playing Dogs - Where'd It Go? Cutting going well. I'm a bit more than half way done and I continue to expect to complete the puzzle tomorrow and launch the auction on Friday.

Tuesday 9:29 pm - As neither customer puzzle in the backlog has been confirmed, I've started cutting this month's eBay puzzle, Poker Playing Dogs - Where'd It Go? I didn't do a lot of cutting as I needed prepare for yet another performance practice. Although the performance is a bit more than five weeks away, I'd like to get the the remaining basics down by the end of this weekend so I can then take my time focusing on the rough spots. Back to the puzzle... I cut the edges, subdivided the board into several sections and cut about 35-40 pieces. I expect to complete the puzzle by Thursday and launch the auction on Friday. The puzzle will have the same figural set as the first Poker Playing Dogs puzzle - a Heart, Diamond, Spade and Club.

September 7, 2007

Friday 11:38 am - Puzzle #747 and #748 are mounted as is the K. Chin Poker Playing Dogs image. I will not get to cutting today as I must focus on dissecting the new dance performance material as things have changed.

September 6, 2007

Thursday 5:22 pm - Did some more puzzle work today. For #747, a Marriage Proposal, I designed the proposal text and printed the image, and I designed a 7x7 grid layout and printed the template. For #748, I printed the image; it came out looking very nice as a newspaper page! I also located and purchased some magnetic sheets for the back, as this will be a magnetically backed puzzle. I've also made a decision on the next K. Chin print to be used for the Poker Playing Dogs series. This one will be titled Poker Playing Dogs - Where'd It Go? I'll have a picture soon.
