Puzzle #141 - Message From the Hearts
Message From the Hearts is an excellent Marriage Proposal puzzle. The Customer, now the groom to be :-), designed and created the image and sent it to me as a tiff file. The image required some work in Photoshop. For example, in the picture below (from the picture the customer sent to me), the polka-dot photo hold-down (1) needed re-alignment (as requested by the customer), the little tear (2) didn't need attention because I could cut it off while cutting along the border, and (3) needed attention, because the customer ran out of doily trim! To "create" more doily trim, I copied some nearby trim, then flipped and moved it to the appropriate location.
The puzzle's image contains many faces, and provided a bit of a cutting challenge, as I prefer the essential part of each face to appear within a piece. See the third picture for some example "face" pieces. So some of the Swirls and Curls of the Swirl Curl cutting style had to yield to the demands of the image.
This was a super rush puzzle, and when Fedex failed to deliver the puzzle overnight (a very rare occurrence), the patient, persistent customer was able to convince Fedex (after "hourly" phone calls) to use a second carrier to get the puzzle to him as he absolutely needed it following day for the elaborately planned Proposal. After he got the puzzle, he assembled it and then subdivided it into separate bags. During the Proposal drama, his fiancé traveled around by car on a clue hunting trip, collecting gifts and clues, including a bag of puzzles piece at each clue station. Eventually she assembled the puzzle and had one more piece to go! This final piece was at a location where her suitor was finally found by her, one a hilltop in Olympic State Park , with the final piece!
