As it happened (from my Journal archives)

July 28, 2001

Completed puzzle #137, In the Beginning, There Were Unicorns - Long Round with 234 pieces. The puzzle is 8 x 10" which works out to a density of about 2.92 piece per square inch, about what I was hoping to accomplish.... less dense than some of my recent Long Round puzzles. A full day's work.

The paper the lithograph was printed on is nice and thin and turned out to cut very well, the cutting lines are crisp. There is some line cutting around the Unicorn (horn and most areas away from the mane and tail - not enough to create any "treat pieces"), and a little bit elsewhere. I intended the puzzle's edges to be 100% indirect interlocking, but one interlock snuck in, so I won't be mentioning the edges' interlockedness on eBay. My signature piece is in the lower right hand corner, virtually impossible to see in this photograph.

The print was hand signed by the late K. Chin, also in the lower right hand corner

As promised, the new Pixie Fairy and Dragon figurals made an appearance, also a swirl star and............ The Observer! The enigmatic Observer likes lightning..... and noted that the Fairy's wand seemed somehow connected to the lightning. But the Unicorn's head is turned back, is the dragon a threat? Not with the Fairy's wand nearby!
